Choosing the Right Paper Stock

The paper you choose affects how your print looks, feels, and performs.

Why Paper Choice Matters

Paper is the foundation of every print project. It affects color vibrancy, tactile impression, durability, and perceived quality. Choosing the right stock for your application ensures your materials make the impression you intend.

Understanding Paper Weight

  • 20-24lb Bond (50-60gsm): Standard copy/office paper. Internal documents, drafts
  • 28-32lb Bond (70-80gsm): Letterhead, forms, better-quality internal docs
  • 80lb Text (120gsm): Flyers, inserts, book pages — substantial but foldable
  • 100lb Text (150gsm): Premium flyers, brochure inserts, catalog pages
  • 80lb Cover (216gsm): Postcards, light business cards, report covers
  • 100lb Cover (270gsm): Standard business cards, heavy postcards, folder stock
  • 130lb Cover (350gsm): Premium business cards, heavy-duty postcards

Finishes Explained

  • Gloss: Shiny, vibrant colors, great for photos. Harder to write on. Popular for flyers and postcards
  • Matte: Smooth, non-reflective, elegant feel. Easy to read, easy to write on. Professional documents and brochures
  • Satin/Silk: Middle ground — some sheen without glare. Versatile and sophisticated
  • Uncoated: Natural paper feel, fully writable. Letterhead, forms, and organic/artisan brands
  • Linen: Textured surface with a woven pattern. Premium letterhead and invitations
